A Memorial service for Harlen W. Eakle will be held at Calvary Bible Church (48 Manor Street below the bluffs) on Sunday, April 15, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. Pastor Rick Prevost and Reverend Delmon Eakle will officiate. Interment will be private. Harlen was born August 15, 1933 in Quinton, Oklahoma to Fred and Kate Eakle, and he passed away April 12, 2007 in Bakersfield, California after suffering a stroke. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Anthony Eakle and his brother, Jay Eakle. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Eakle; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Neva Eakle; daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Keith McClanahan, Vickie and Anthony Peters and Lisa and Jack Turner and his children; brother and sister-in-law, Delmon and Ina Eakle; sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Dwight Henry; sister, Carol Lewis; grandsons and their wives, Brian and Mikin McClanahan, Chad and Stephanie Peters, Justin and Barbara Peters, Adam and Bonnie Eakle; grandson, Mathew Eakle; granddaughters, Sandra Cannon and Jennifer Amaya. Seven great grandchildren survive him as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Harlen was a farmer most of his life. For many years he "scrapped" cotton with his roods. The last few years he worked with his son spraying crops. He loved the outdoors and looked forward to trips to Stigler, Oklahoma where he grew up and had property. His brother and sisters and their families live in Stigler. He also loved the horse races, spending a lot of his "off" time at the Satellite Wagering Facility at the Fairgrounds. Harlen was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He never met a stranger. His family and many friends will miss him, his wit and his stories. He was loved by all.
