Published January 22, 2007 Muskogee Phoenix Ted Fulsom 1912 -2007 In Spiro, OK a son Ted Fulsom, was born to the union of Griffin and Mary (White) Fulsom. As a youngster, he received his education in Leflore County. Upon reaching adulthood, he met Versie (Edwards) Fulsom of which culminated into a marriage of 37 years. This union was blessed with 12 siblings. Versie went to be with the Lord Jan. 31, 1970. A good father to his children he taught them to be God loving and God fearing. In the care and support of his family he was a custodian at Sharpes Dept. Store for over 20 years, and worked in the Checotah public school system for over 25 years and was affectionately known as the man with the "green thumb" he also operated and independently owned a lawn service. As a past time, Ted enjoyed fishing, raising cattle, the simple things in life was where he found joy. Accepting his calling into the ministry and being obedient, he served as Pastor of New Hope Baptist Church, Oktaha, OK, for 15 years, Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Checotah, OK for 9 years and Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Warner, OK for 2 years. Once again, Ted found love in his heart, he met Leola Colbert, and they became as one, a marriage of 27 years (Feb. 17 1979) till death do us part. Preceding him in death are his parents, first wife, Versie, 6 children, 6 brothers, and 2 sisters. To witness his transition, a loving wife, Leola Fulsom, of the home, two sons, Theodore (Barbara) Fulsom, San Antonio, TX; Gary Fulsom, Okla City, OK, five daughters, Bernadine (Rev. Albert) Lowe, Muskogee, OK, Mary Woodley, Bellflower, CA; Annie Mae Fulson, Elk Grove, CA; Bobbie Clark, Okla. City, OK; Margaret (Anderson) Tolbert, Checotah, OK, 43 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, 28 great- great grandchildren, 1 great-great-great-great grandchild; two step daughters, Pearlean (Rayfield) Robertson, Checotah, OK; Cora Lee (James)Moseley, Ft. Worth, TX, along with other relatives and friends. On Tuesday evening, Rev. Fulsom will lie-in-state in Mt. Calvary Baptist Church 217 E. Park St. Checotah, OK during the hours of 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. A Homegoing Celebration will be conducted Wednesday, at 11:00 a.m. in the church, with his son in the ministry Rev. Samuel Harper, delivery the eulogy. Interment will follow in Paradise Cemetery.
