All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== SUMNER FRY Published on February 10, 1996 The Santa Rosa Press Democrat Family and friends will gather at 2 p.m. Sunday at Elim Lutheran Church in Petaluma for a celebration of the lives of Sumner Fry and his wife, Shirley Fry, who died about four months apart. Sumner Fry, 69, died at his Petaluma residence Tuesday. His wife died in October. Fry was born in Muse, Okla. He was raised and educated in Petaluma, where he lived for 60 years. He served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War. After his discharge, he worked at Mare Island Naval Shipyard as a rigger. He later worked as a butcher in Petaluma before returning to work more than 25 years at Mare Island. He retired in 1988. Fry was a member of Elim Lutheran Church in Petaluma. He is survived by his sons, Paul Fry of Northern California and Timothy Fry of Petaluma; daughter, Linda Taber of Petaluma; sisters, Sybil Arata and Joyce Kuehle, both of Napa; and by six grandchildren. The church is at the corner of Baker and Stanley Streets. Inurnment will be private. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Petaluma, 415 A St., Petaluma 94952; to the church; or to a favorite charity.
