All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::NOT LISTED Modesto Bee 9 Jun 2006 Ferrel, Mary Jo MARY JO FERREL FEB. 6, 1924 - JUNE 4, 2006 Mary Jo Ferrel passed away on June 4, 2006 after a long and courageous battle with heart disease. She is survived by her children Robert Ferrel (Cherlynn) of Turlock, CA, and Jean Mulligan (Paul) of Danville, CA; grandchildren Tracy Montez (Pete); Megan, Sara, and Amy Mulligan; Kris and Kenny Gouveia; great grand daughter Olivia Montez; and very dear family friend Virginia Grandstaff. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Carol (C.M.) Ferrel, her brother Leon Blankenship of Denair, and her beloved grandson Michael Paul Ferrel. Mrs. Ferrel was born in Spiro, Oklahoma, on February 6, 1924. The family came to California and settled in the Denair area to farm peaches. She attended Keyes Elementary School, and was a graduate of Modesto High School. After marrying she worked many years as a court reporter and was highly skilled at typing and shorthand recording. She later obtained her real-estate license and worked in the Sacramento area. After retiring she worked as a volunteer at Sacramento area hospitals devoting much of her time assisting terminally ill patients. She loved to cook and always insisted on preparing the meals at family gatherings; she was known for her many candy and cookie recipes. There will be no formal service.
