All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Yukon Cemetery--Yukon OK Poteau Daily News 25 Apr 2007 Randel Otis Grigsby Randel Otis Grigsby, 66, of Yukon, passed away May 21, 2007.He was born May 10, 1941, in Poteau to Wanda and Otis Grigsby. A graduate of the University of Oklahoma College of Journalism, Randel became a newspaper publisher at age 23 in 1964 when he founded the Waldron News in Waldron, Ark. Randel and his wife Karen were married on Feb. 10, 1972, in Hot Springs, Ark. The Grigsbys became publishers of The Yukon Review in Oct. 1983, and they later owned The Mustang News, The Piedmont Post and The Lincoln County News.Randel is survived by his wife, Karen, of the home; three daughters, LaPrima Kessler of Oklahoma City, Shannon Grigsby of Aurora, Colo., and Rhoda Olson of Tulsa; brother, Donnie Grigsby of Shady Point; two sisters, Carolyn Wasson of Fort Smith, Ark., Diana Butler of Raydon; two grandchildren, Robert C. Kessler of Oklahoma City, and Jesse Grigsby of Aurora.Randel loved newspapers since he was young and turned that love into a successful, lifelong career for his profession and inspired his employees to produce the best community newspaper possible. Randel was an Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash fan, and he loved his cars and clothes. He also enjoyed reading, exercising and listening to music on the iPod that Karen got him.Randel was a member of Western Oaks Church of the Nazarene in Oklahoma City.Services will be held 2 p.m., Friday at Western Oaks Church of the Nazarene, 7901 N.W. 16th. Interment will follow in the Yukon Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Conrad Dudderar, Burt Nicholson, Larry Jones, Craig Coleman, Steve Coulter and Robert C.
