All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Ruby Hix Hammond Ruby Hix Hammond, 87, of Canyon, died Wednesday, July 28, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church of Lefors with the Rev. Lewis Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Heights Cemetery in Lefors by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Mrs. Hammond was born in Konawa, Okla. She attended Dixie and Mountain Home High School where she received music and vocal awards. In 1932, she graduated from Ringling, Okla., High School. In 1933, Mrs. Hammond moved to Lefore. Until 1952, she worked in the Hammond Grocery business with her husband. They retired to Healdton, Okla. She moved to Canyon in 1988. She married C.A. "Jake" Hammond in 1932 at Ringland. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1993 and by a daughter, JoAnna Faye Hammond. Survivors include two daughters, Beth Auldridge of San Angelo and Kay Alexander of Canyon; two brothers, John Hix of Norman, Okla., and Ralph Hix of Lefors; two sisters, Faye McCurley and Marge Walker, both of Pampa; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79176.
