All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park--Mesa AZ Hemphill, Zene Curtiss Zene Curtiss Hemphill, 82 of Gilbert, AZ, left us Tuesday evening, Nov 13, 2007, peacefully and with a smile on his face. He was born September 1, 1925 in the small town of Monroe, OK to William Robert and Mary Amanda (Blaylock) Hemphill. Zene attended public school in Monroe, Ok and served in the US Navy during WW II. He graduated from Poteau Junior College and Oklahoma City University with a B.S. in Business and from Tulane University with a Masters Degree in Social Work. He worked with the Oklahoma Department of Public Welfare in LeFlore and Cherokee Counties and in the State Office in Oklahoma City. He later worked with the U.S. Government's Department of the Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs in Oklahoma, Washington, and New Mexico and retired from this position after 20 years of service. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Eva Lee Hemphill and four children: Beverly, Zene II, Jeffrey and Will Hemphill. He is survived by ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and two brothers Ken and Arnold Hemphill both of Mississippi and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Zene is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gerald and Eric. His wishes are to have a very private service with cremation. In lieu of flowers if you would like to do something in his name, the family is asking for donations to Banner Hospice, 1325 N. Fiesta Boulevard, Ste 1, Gilbert, AZ or to a hospice center near you. Local arrangements were entrusted to Mariposa Gardens Funeral Care, Mesa, AZ. (480)830-4422.
