Jones, 69, of Poteau, Oklahoma, passed away in Fort Smith, Arkansas, Monday, September 20, 2004. Lupe was born December 15, 1934, in Mentmore, New Mexico to Alejo and Marianne Barraza. She was united in marriage to John Lewis Jones on January 30, 1954, in Gallup, New Mexico. She worked as the Headstart Coordinator for over 25 years until she retired. Lupe loved spending time with her family and was of the Catholic faith. Lupe was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Glen David Jones. Lupe is survived by her husband of over 50 years, John, of the home; a daughter, Lisa Irene Covey and husband, Robert, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two sons, George Alan Jones of Poteau and Donald Gene Jones and wife Tammy of Sallisaw; three sisters, Alice Harrison of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Julia Blackmon of Moreno Valley, California, Ann Caraway of Winslow, Arizona; two brothers, John Barraza and Adolf Barraza both of Gallup, New Mexico; five grandchildren, Tara Mendiola, Todd Jones, Bradley Jones, Hannah Jones, and Zachary Jones; two great grandchildren, Kade and Kyler Mendiola as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM Friday, September 24, 2004, at Old Bokoshe Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Copeland officiating. Services are under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau.
