Kaubin, Matthew Norman Matthew Norman Kaubin, 56, peacefully went home to be with his Lord on Tues. March 4, 2003, surrounded and comforted by his loving family and friends. He was born on Dec. 11, 1946 in Talihina, OK, to the late Frank Kaubin and Ida Botone Kaubin. He attended Capitol Hill H.S. in OKC and graduated in 1965, where he excelled in football and was honored as Mr. Chieftain his Senior year. He was awarded a football scholarship at Northeastern A&M Junior College in Miami, OK, where he was a starting offensive guard of the National Championship team both years he was there. He then went on to Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. where he received a full scholarship and was again a starting offensive guard and captain of the football team during his senior years. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education in Psychology and History in 1969. He began his teaching career at Fort Sill Indian School in Lawton, OK and then went on to Capitol Hill, N.W. Classen and Roosevelt Jr. High Schools. He retired after 30 years in the OKC Public School System. Since retirement, he devoted his time and expertise in helping to establish a youth Football program in South OKC. He took great pride and joy in serving as the offensive line coordinator for his grandson's championship football team, the Oklahoma Titans. He loved music and spent his life playing the guitar in various bands. Norman, a member of the Kiowa tribe, was a champion fancy dancer and straight dancer for many years, who was also a member of the Kiowa Gourd Clan and O-ho-mah Lodge. He was a member of the Angie Smith Memorial UMC of OKC. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Kaubin of the home; two children: Kori Thompson & husband, Charles, and Kyli Elaine Kaubin; three grandsons: Kendal, Casey & Cade Thompson. He leaves behind a sister, Franda Flyingman of Albuquerque, NM. A wake service will be held from 6-9 PM Thurs. March 6, 2003 at the Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary, 6934 S. Western Ave. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Fri. March 7, 2003 at the Botone Memorial UMC in Carnegie, OK with burial at Cedar Creek Cemetery.
