All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== JAMES KITCHENS Published on January 1, 2000 The Santa Rosa Press Democrat James Wade Kitchens, a longtime Graton resident who was so fond of telling stories and yarns that he was nicknamed "Windy," died Dec. 22 at home in Witter Springs of cancer. He was 75. Born in Wister, Okla., Kitchens moved to Graton when he was a young man and lived there for 63 years. A truck driver for Mead Clark Lumber Co. for 27 years, he enjoyed fishing and hunting and served as a Little League coach in Forestville. "He used to go down to Myrtle's Cafe in Graton, and be there every morning for breakfast with the rest of the local people going on their way to work," said his sister-in-law, Shirley Kitchens of Witter Springs near Upper Lake in Lake County. "When she went out of business, they were lost. She packed a lot of their lunches for them." Kitchens is survived by his brother, Lishal Kitchens of Witter Springs; his sister, Sylvia Webb of Santa Rosa; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside services were held Tuesday at Upper Lake Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lake County, 1717 S.
