He was 68. He was born in Pocola, Okla. He lived in Santa Rosa more than 50 years after his discharge from the Navy. Kennedy owned the market until he retired in 1977. After selling the market, he worked 10 years as a bartender at the 4-40 Club in Santa Rosa. He served in the Navy during World War II and was called back during the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing, golf and his dog, Miss T, a tiny Yorkshire Terrier. His family said Miss T died a week before Thanksgiving at age 17. The death occurred while Kennedy was in the hospital. Kennedy, always worried over who would care for his dog, seemed to worsen after Miss T died, according to a family member. Kennedy was a member of the Druids in Santa Rosa. He is survived by his wife, Ellie Kennedy of Santa Rosa; son, Jeff Kennedy of Sebastopol; daughter, Barbara Bragg of University City, Texas; his stepdaughter, Sheila Colston of Redding; sisters, Reba Goodin of Pocola, Okla., and Sue Hamrick of Fresno; brother, Sam Kennedy of Bakersfield; stepmother, Mamie Kennedy of Fresno; and two grandchildren. No services are planned. Kennedy's ashes will be scattered near his favorite fishing hole at Bodega Bay. Memorial donations are preferred to Spectrum Hospice, 2421 Mendocino Ave., Suite 125, Santa Rosa 95403-3159. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to LeFlore County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/leflore/leflore.htm
