All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== The Bakersfield Californian 4 March 2004 FLOYD "BUD" OLIVER April 8, 1928 - February 29, 2004 Services for Floyd "Bud" Oliver will be held Friday, March 5, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Rd. Bud's nephew, Pastor John Ross from Wasco will be officiating. Floyd Oliver was born in Heavener, Oklahoma to John Henry and Mariah Belle Oliver. He was born fifth of eight children. Bud was a veteran of World War II. He was a medic in the Philippines, and a member of the VFW Post #1468 for 40 years. Bud met his wife, Olletta Mae Hulsey, in Tehachapi, while working at Monolith Cement Plant. Bud and Leta were married on "Lucky Friday the 13th" June 13, 1950. He later worked for Union Oil for 29 years until he retired. Bud leaves behind to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 53 years, Olletta; children, Polly and Roy Collier, Ron Oliver and Dana Lackey, Don and Terri Atkinson, Diane and Bruce Stone, Roger Oliver and Rheanna and Gordon Hilton; sisters, Rosalee Ross and Hazel Woodard; brothers, Harold, Robert and Jay Oliver; 18 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Bud never met a stranger. He had a warm smile and wonderful laugh. He was a man of honor, his word and handshake were all that was needed. He loved his family and loved being around people. He loved traveling, playing poker and keno, fishing, folfing and had Dodger blue blood in his veins. Bud played minor league baseball in hopes of becoming a ballplayer for St. Louis. An injury prevented him from pursuing that dream. He did get to play against Joe Dimaggio. Even though Dad did not belong to a church, we know that he believed the way to Heaven was through Jesus. He was our inspiration of how to live our lives with love and foregiveness. We love and miss you Dad www.dignitymemorial.com HILLCREST Memorial Park & Mortuary -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to LeFlore County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/leflore/leflore.htm
