Graveside to follow, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield. Earl was born April 4, 1924, in Wister, Oklahoma to Elmer and Alice Pollard. Earl passed away on April 29, 2007 peacefully in his sleep in Bakersfield, California. Earl served his country for the United States Navy from 1943-1945 working on a tanker shortly after Pearl Harbor and during WWII. After his honorable discharge he moved to Wasco, CA, where he worked many jobs, and soon after that he met the love of his life, Norma. Shortly after that he started working the pit crew for Norma's father, Howard Stamp. They both loved and enjoyed working on and around the race cars. They loved it even more when Howard would bring home a trophy, which happened quite a bit. Shortly after Earl and Norma married on August 2, 1947. They lived their lives in Bakersfield, CA where they had two children, daughter, Earlane Pollard and son, Howard Pollard. Earl was a hardworking man, working for the Lath and Plasters Union Local 743 for over 50 years. His retirement was well lived. He enjoyed his life with his family and friends. He brought love, happiness, and joy o everyone around him and to those he knew. Always willing to lend a helping hand, a smile on his face, and a good joke from time to time. He very much liked watching Lakers basketball, WWF wrestling, and can't forget NASCAR. Most of all he loved and cherished his family, and his lil angel, Kailah, who always brought a smile to his face. We will miss you dearly POP... Earl is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Norma Pollard; daughter, Earlane Pollard; son, Howard Pollard and wife, Karen; grandchildren, Howard Pollard II, Brandon "Bubba" Pollard, Kourtny Pollard; and great-grandchild, Kailah Cobb; brother, J.R. Pollard of Arizona; and sisters, Ethel and Dorthy of Oklahoma. God saw he was getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around him and whispered, "Come with me." With teary eyes we watched him suffer and saw him fade away. Although we loved him dearly, we could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands laid to rest. God has proved to us that He has taken the best...
