All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Fort Sill National Cemetery--Elgin OK Becker Funeral Home Obit 27 May 2005 David Shockley Age 70, Lawton - Funeral mass will be 1:00 PM Friday in the Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Philip Seeton, Pastor, officiating. Mr. Shockley died Friday in a local hospital. Burial with military honors will be in the Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home. A wake service will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday at the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. He was born on July 24, 1934 in Spiro, Oklahoma to George Wesley and Stella (Ebbs) Shockley. He grew up in California and graduated from Tulare High School in 1949. He served in the US Army from 1953 until 1962 and received two honorable discharges. After his discharge from the Army, he worked for Civil Service as an Equipment Specialist in electronics. He retired in 1989 after more than 30 years. He married Charlene Thurman in Las Cruces, New Mexico on January 21, 1964. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife of the home; three children, Darlene Sims and her husband, Billy, of Michigan; Earl Shockley of California; and Maria Hooley and her husband, Ellis, of Lawton; six grandchildren, Britney Erman and Zackary Erman, both of Lawton; Taylor Hooley of Lawton; Eileen Klotzer and Steven Lang, both of Michigan; and Rachel Sahlberg of Florida; three brothers, Earl Shockley and George Shockley, both of California; and Bill Shockley of Arkansas; two sisters, Jane Haney of California and Marie Jannson of Arkansas; and numerous other nieces and nephews. A grandson, Cliff Sahlberg, a sister, Dorothy Simco, and a brother, Gene Shockley, preceded him in death.
