All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Corning Cemetery--Corning CA Shaw, Elmer "Curly" March 18, 1922 - Jan. 5, 2007 Elmer Curly Shaw died in Vallejo on Jan. 5, 2007, after a short illness, due to complications of pneumonia. He was 84 years old, having been born on March 18, 1922, in Spiro, Okla. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lavada, of Corning; sisters, JoEllen Dickinson of Galt and Leora Rust of Stockton; and his daughter and her husband, Sharon and Randy McDonald of Blairsden. He is also mourned by his grandchildren, Gina Thompson of Spirit Lake, Idaho, Lisa Bull of Vacaville, Ervin Hadenfeldt III of Fairfield, Kate Vankol of Portola and Tom McDonald of Benicia; great- grandchildren, Maria Hadenfeldt, Gina Thompson, Marlena Thompson, Ray Thompson, Michelle Bull, Chelsea Bull, Hannah Hadenfeldt, Savannah Hadenfeldt and Nathaniel Vankol; and great-great grandchildren, Helen RayJay and Nicholas. Elmer served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He moved to California with his family shortly after the end of the war. He worked as a building contractor for much of his life, but his true loves were his family and music. He played many musical instruments including the guitar, bass guitar, steel guitar and drums. He had a country western band for much of his life and once played with the Bob Wills Band. He had a recording studio at his residence in Corning and made four CDs in the last few years for his family and friends to enjoy and remember him by. A viewing will be held today from 5-8 p.m. at Nadeau Family Funeral Home, 180 Monte Vista Ave., in Vacaville. A funeral will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday. A private inurnment is set for 1 p.m. Thursday in the Corning Cemetery.
