Odis was born in Poteau, Oklahoma to Rube and Millie Thresher. He met his wife of 56 years in Wasco, California. After a short courtship of 6 weeks, they were married in Bakersfield, California on the 30th day of July 1949. Odis told everyone he met, Juanita chased me until she caught me. Over the next eight years they were blessed with two sons, Mitch and Doug. Odis worked for the next 27 years for Local 460, Plumbers and Steamfitters Union and served as a devoted Deacon at Rexland Acres Southern Baptist Church for several years. He enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting as often as possible, but his greatest joy was his Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. You could always find gum or candy in his pocket for his Greatest joys; in his heart they could do no wrong they were the most special people in the world. Odis led an extraordinary and wonderful life with his wife and best friend of 56 years Juanita. He will be deeply missed by his son Mitch (wife) Sherry, their children Michelle, Brad (wife) Nicole, Brandi and Summer, daughter-in-law Gina, her children Craig (wife) Alison and Jenna, great-grand children, sister Iva Hood, brother- in-law Elvis Black, and many nieces, nephews and friends. As Odis entered the Kingdom of Heaven he was greeted by his son Doug, parents Rube and Millie, sisters Fannie Black and Beulah Morris. As a man of great integrity, Odis loved God, Family and friends and never met a stranger. His humbleness, honesty and willingness to help anyone in need set a shining example to all who knew and loved him.
