Services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8, in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Clayton officiating. Burial was in Giddings City Cemetery by Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home. Mr. Turner was born Sept. 10, 1923, in Howe, Okla., the son of Aubry and Ina (Shearer) Turner. He married Emily Carter on Aug. 30, 1946, and was an engineer in the oil industry. He managed Turner Wireline Service Co. He was also an Air Force veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two grandchildren, Tiffany Turner and Zachary Whitmire. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sandra Turner of Fredericksburg and Sterline Marcum and husband, Marlin, of Post; a son, Alan Turner and wife, Pam, of Giddings; five grandsons, Bill Whitmire and wife, Raychel, of Cameron, Matthew Whitmire and wife, Deanna, of Keller, Benjamin Marcum and wife, Katie, of Virginia Beach, Va., Stephen Marcum of Post and Nathan Turner and wife, Liz, of Brayn; two granddaughters, Erica Betts and husband, Jeff, of Oklahoma and Emily Marcum; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Margaret Roberson and husband, Joe, and Falba Evans and husband, Charles, of Amarillo.
