All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Greenlawn Cemetery--Bakersfield CA Woodard Jr., James Arvin James Arvin Woodard Jr. May 18, 1929 - June 13, 2006 Visitation for James Arvin Woodard Jr. will be held at Basham Funeral Care (3312 Niles Street) on Sunday, June 18, 2006 from 1:00-6:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery on Monday morning, June 19, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Ken Armstrong will officiate. Jim (as he was known) was born on May 18, 1929 and he passed away on June 13, 2006. He was born in Howe, Oklahoma to James and Rose Woodard. He moved to California at the age of six. He attended Old River Elementary School and Kern High School. Jim served two years in the United States Navy during the Korean War. In 1948 he met and married Cleta Jean Mitchell in Bakersfield. Jim retired from PG & E after 32 years of service after winning many serviceman awards. He loved spending time with his family and friends while fishing, hunting and gardening. He was the most wonderful husband, father and grandfather that anyone could ever ask for. Jim is preceded in death by his father, James Woodard Sr.; son, Bobby and sister, Beulah. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Cleta; daughter, Debra Carter; grandchildren, Angela Woodard and Daniel Carter; brother and sister-in-law, Carol and Hazel; sister, Jackie Naten; mother, Rose Woodard as well as many other family members and friends. He was loved by all that knew him and he will be greatly missed. The Woodard family wishes to thank Dr. Tun and his staff at Kaiser on San Dimas and Hospice Care for such wonderful service during trying times.
