Lincoln Co., OK - Obituaries: James Hutchison ***************************************************** This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb by: Lou Nell (Hutchison) Bath USGenWeb Archives. Copyright. All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** From the Carney Enterprise, Fri, Nov. 11, 1910, p3, c.2: FATAL ACCIDENT On Saturday evening last James Hutchinson, living a mile east of town, was fatally hurt while training his horse on the race track a mile northeast of town. Mr. Hutchinson and several others went out to run a horse race, and his animal became unruly, reared and fell backwards onto the rider. The man was so badly injured that he was unconcious and never spoke after being hurt. He was carried to the farm house of Duke Gazaway where he remained until Sunday evening when he was taken home. He lingered unconcious until Monday when he passed away. His remains were laid to rest in the Kelly Cemetery southeast of Carney. MY NOTES: The name of the cemetery has been changed to Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, located 4 miles North on highway 18 from Chandler, and then about 3.25 miles West on North side of the road. Also, the surname "Hutchinson" is misspelled. It should read "Hutchison." William, one of James' brothers, also lived in Lincoln Co at the time and spelled his name "Hutchinson." The word "unconcious" was misspelled as well. I left it as it appeared in the obit. Lou Nell HUTCHISON Bath, granddaughter Grove, OK
