All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** Published in Muskogee Phoenix On November 14, 2006 Section A, Page 4 William Raymond Rowan 1918-2006 William Raymond Rowan was born on March 27, 1918 in Prague, Oklahoma to William Berry and Ellie Mae (Green) Rowan. He passed away on November 10, 2006 in Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma at the age of 88. Raymond was raised in the Ft. Gibson area where he attended Georgetown School. He was married to Mary Nutt on August 18, 1940 and they made Ft. Gibson their lifelong home. Raymond was a welder, farmer, trapper, and business owner. Raymond’s hobbies included woodworking, arts, and crafts. He was a charter member of the Calvary Faith Church, and served as a Deacon for over 30 years. He was very religious and enjoyed being a Sunday School teacher. He was also involved in the Nursing Home Ministry for 22 years. Raymond is preceded in death by his wife, Mary, parents, Berry and Lillie Rowan, brothers, Kenneth, John, & Jesse Rowan. He is survived by Loretta and Tom Cooper of Ft. Gibson; Leon and Rhea Rowan of Broken Arrow; Jerry Rowan of Ft. Gibson; Daughter in law Diane Rowan of Muskogee; Dale and Karen Rowan of Skiatook; Pricilla and Milton “Boo” Fields of Ft. Gibson; Joyce and David White of Ft. Gibson; Norman and Joyce Rowan of Dustin; 23 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren; three sisters, Ethel Walters, Ruby Wooten, and Martha Igert; three brothers, Carl, Jim, and Don Rowan; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held Monday, November 13, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. at the Trinity Family Worship with Rev. Tom Cooper, Rev. David White, and Rev. Glen Rowan officiating. Pallbearers were sons and son in laws. Honorary Pallbearers were Tom Cooper, Stoney Combs, Bryan Barnett, Clarence Fields, Dallas Fields, Jim Krops, Billy Dallis, and Dale Allen Rowan. Interment followed at the Citizens Cemetery under the direction of Williamson Funeral Home.
