Day was born August 15, 1871 at Prairie Grove, Arkansas, and died at his home in Moorewood, Oklahoma, December 8, 1952 at the age of 81 years, 3 months and 23 days. His passing marked the close of a long and useful life. He was married to Miss Lillie Stark at Maud, Oklahoma, on December 12, 1905. Six children were born to the union, all of whom are still living. He professed faith in Christ and joined the Missionary Baptist church at Pleasant Valley, Oklahoma, early in life, holding fast his faith in Christ. A few hours before his passing he expressed himsellf as being ready to go home to be with the Lord. Having lived at Moorewood for 24 years, he had many friends. To know him was to love him. Services were conducted in the First Baptist Church at Moorewood by the pastor, Rev. T.R. Shannon, at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 9, 1952. Burial was in the Moorewood cemetery. Casket bearers were Cleo Williamson, Joe Williamson, Peted Page, George Page, Everett Moore, and Dewie Miller. Flower girls were Mmes. Delma Williamson, Nadine Williamson, Julia Miller, Vickie Elliott, Zefie Page and Mrs. Pete Page. He leaves to mourn his going, his wife, Mrs. Lillie Day; six children, Mrs. Ethel Harbison, Moorewood, Oklahoma; Leo Day, Locust Grove, Oklahoma; Jim Day, Borger, Texas; Harvey and Hubert Day, Wasco, California, and Mrs. Lorene Matthews, Mancos, Colorado; one sister, Mrs. Ella Hawkins, Kanton, Missouri. He also leaves 16 grandchildrren, one great grandchild, and a host of friends and loved ones.
