All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== :: Evans Sr., Haydn Edwin Haydn Edwin Evans, Sr. of Crescent went home to be with the Lord on September 24, 2004 surrounded by his loving family. He departed after being happily married to his devoted wife of 55 years, Jean Hannah Evans. He was born on December 27, 1926 to Haydn I. and Alice Evans of Dixon City, PA. Haydn grew up in Blakely, PA. He served in the U.S. Army, 2nd Armored Division during WWII. After his military service, he married Jean and they moved to Windsor, NY. They operated a small dairy farm while he worked as a machinist and attended night school to become an engineer. During the course of his career, they moved to Arizona and eventually to Oklahoma where he retired as an engineer from Magnetic Peripherals Incorporated in 1988. Through his life, he has served the Lord through his love of the church where he enjoyed singing in the choir and through many service projects. He served the community as a Scout Master in the Boy Scouts of America and was honored with the Order of the Arrow. Later in life, he was instrumental in the continued development of the Twin Lakes Volunteer Fire Department where he served as Fire Chief. He secured funding which was crucial in acquiring the fire apparatus and other fire/rescue equipment. He served Twin Lakes Sports Club Association as Secretary/Treasurer of the Board of Directors. He also continued to serve his country as a member of the American Legion. Haydn was known as a hard working, godly, gentle man who used his life selflessly to make an impact for good and was dearly loved. Haydn is survived by his loving wife Jean, brother Rev. Gillard Evans of PA, his three children, Haydn, Jr. and wife Diana of Crescent, David and wife Teresa of Blanchard, and Rhea of Wichita, KS; four grandchildren, Amanda Hill, Chris Evans, Matthew and Michael Evans; one great grandchild, Keaton Hill. He was preceded in death by his parents, Haydn I. and Alice Evans, his brother Rev. John Evans of MN. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Tuesday, September 28, 2004 at the First United Methodist Church, 225 E. Monroe, Crescent, Oklahoma. Viewing and visitation with the family will be Monday, September 27, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Abernathy Funeral Home, 201 N. Hickory, Crescent.
