She died Feb. 1, 2001 at Logan Hospital and Medical Center in Guthrie. She was employed with the Guthrie Housing Authority. She was a member of the First Christian Church. She is survived by one son, Brent Allen Bossart and wife Rhonda of Tyler, Texas; one daughter, Vickie Yates and husband Bobby of Deer Park, Texas; two brothers, Marvin Harlan of Guthrie and Jerry Harlan of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren, Chad Eric Yates, Tyler Barret Yates, Brook Emily Yates, Blair Elise Bossart, Paige Alaine Bossart and Brynn Michelle Bossart. Loften Cartus Thornton officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill County Line Cemetery under the direction of Davis Funeral Home of Guthrie. Dorothy was born Jan. 25, 1919 in Guthrie to Thomas Russell and Cora Lee (Porcupile) Hickman. She died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001 at Integrated Specialty Hospital in Edmond, Okla. Dorothy had lived in the Guthrie area most of her life. She was a homemaker and retired telephone operator. She also had sold Avon and Tupperware and was very active in local clubs. She was a member of the Alturian Genealogy Club, Iris Garden Club and Division 4 Homemakers Club, and was always running errands for those who could not get around. She married John Henry Faubush, Sr. on April 6, 1942 in Natchez, Miss. He preceded her in death on March 26, 1998. Survivors include one daughter, Betty Thornton of Guthrie; three sons, John Henry Faubush, Jr. and wife Norma Jean and Richard Faubush, both of Oklahoma City and Thomas William Faubush of Guthrie; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a special cousin, Elsie Hambrook. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Albert J. Martin, one granddaughter, Barbara Lois Renegar; a son-in-law, Tommy G. Thornton; and a great-great-grandson. He was born in Logan County on June 29, 1938 to Otis D. and Grace A. (Brown) Stout. He graduated from Guthrie High School in 1956. On October 23, 1959 he and Donna Bentley were married at the First Christian Church in Coyle. Two sons were born to he and Donna: Kenton Mitchell and Kim Michael. Kenneth was a lifetime resident of Guthrie. Together, he and his wife established and ran a greenhouse business, Stout's Greenhouse. They have been in business for 38 years. He was a loving husband, wonderful father and grandfather, farmer, business manx and believer in God. He was preceded in death by his father, Otis D. and his mother, Grace; two brothers, Eugene and Donald. Survivors include his wife, Donna; two sons, Kenton Mitchell and Kim Michael and their wives, Dana and Donella; and six grandchildren, Zachary, Krisha, Kimberly, Kaylah, Keely and Kaitlyn. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lakeview Baptist Church Building Fund, 5420 Ellie Mae, Guthrie, OK 73044, or the American Heart Association or Diabetes Association. Published - Sunday, February 4, 2001 Virginia Lee Stout Funeral services for Virginia Lee "Bug" Stout, 72, formerly of Crescent, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2001 at Abernathy Funeral Chapel in Crescent with the Rev. Gerald Biswell presiding. Burial will follow in Oakland-Knowles Cemetery under the direction of Abernathy Funeral Home. Stout was born June 21, 1928 in Crescent to George Robert Keele and Rosa Porch. She died February 2, 2001 in Whitewater, Kansas. As a youngster, she moved to Rossville, Georgia and later to Hendon and Sweetwater, Tennessee, before returning to Crescent with her family in 1943. She worked for Goodnight's Jewelry until her graduation from Crescent High School. She then worked for the Logan County News and later the Masonic Home printshop in Guthrie. She also worked for the Guthrie Register-News and the Co-op before moving to Oklahoma City to work for the Oklahoma Livestock News. In 1953, she returned to Guthrie, working for the Guthrie Daily News. She and her husband bought the Logan County News in 1972. They also owned My Place restaurant and leased the Twin Lakes restaurant. She retired in 1990. Virginia married James Warren Stout on Nov. 23, 1955 in Crescent. He preceded her in death Feb. 18, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Bessie and Mary. Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Stout Eastman of Wichita, Kan., one son, James Kevin Stout of Wichita, Kan., three brothers, Tom Keele and Lawrence Keele of Sweetwater, Tenn. and Henry Keele of Crescent; and three grandchildren, Michael, Brandan and Dane Stout, all of Crescent. Ronald was born Oct. 25, 1935 in Guthrie, Okla. to Claire and Pauline DuBois Chambers. He died Feb. 9, 2001 in Oklahoma City. He was a very active member of the Abell Community Church, and a youth and adult Sunday School teacher, and led Bible Study on Wednesday evenings. He was a member of the Board of Deacons and was currently serving as chairman. Ronald was a farmer and rancher. He enjoyed fishing, raising cattle and all sports, and especially supporting the Mulhall-Orlando basketball teams. He married Anita (Collins) Chambers on May 2, 1955, in Kingfisher, Okla. Survivors include his wife, Anita Chambers of the home in Crescent; one sister, Myrna Pollard of Hennessey, Okla.; nieces, Ingrid, Greta, Randi, Debbie, Diane, Jackie and Marla; nephews, Richard, Eric and Kurt. Guthrie relatives include John and June Chambers, Gerald and Naola DuBois, Earl DuBois, Dick and Dorothy Friend, Vera Collins, and a host of other relatives and friends. She was born on June 19, 1901 in Willis, Okla., to James Marion and Alice (Basham) Green. She grew up in Willis, moved to Seward in 1929, and to Guthrie in 1963. She is survived by four daughters, Bonnie and husband Bill Hudson of Harrah, Okla., Ruby Moad and husbandArley Moad of Guthrie, Edna and husband J.C. Ozbirn of Nicoma Park, Jerry Dorminey of Glen St. Mary, Florida; one daughter-in-law, Helen Cooksey of Nicoma Park; one son-in-law, Milam Headley of Fort Worth, Texas; 22 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew David Cooksey; her parents; four children; five brothers; three sisters, and several grandchildren. She retired from Kerr-McGee Oil Company. She was a member of Community Church, in Guthrie and of the Logan County Trail Riders and the Cherokee Territory Wagon Train. She married W. L. "Bill" Jones on June 13, 1959 in Guthrie. He preceded her in death in November 1977. She married Harvey Travis September 29, 1979 in Crescent. He preceded her in death April 26, 1980. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister. Survivors include one son, Frankie Phillips of Crescent; four daughters, Dr. Leortta Hawk of Seligman, Missouri, Barbara Wolf and Bonnie Johnston, both of Crescent, and Shirley Sprague of Guthrie; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He was a tile setter. He died Feb. 14, 2001 in Oklahoma City. He was an oil field worker and had worked for Easton Oil Company until retirement. He married Della Mae Rhoads in 1947 at Crescent. She preceded him in death. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He is survived by two sons, Terry Don Richards of Oklahoma City and Roaine Richards of Crescent; one daughter, Jimalou Schwandt of Enid; five grandchildren, Lance, Kevin and Annie Schwandt, Tara Tarrant and Erin Richards and one great-grandchild, Haylee Schwandt. Dorothy had lived in Guthrie since 1994, moving here from Eufaula, Okla. She was a housewife and homemaker. She married Charles U. Conyer on March 9, 1934. He preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 1950. She married Buck Basom on Dec. 10, 1950. He preceded her in death in Dec. of 1978. Survivors include two sons, Jerry Paul Conyer and wife Marilyn of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Gary Michael Conyer and wife Beth, Atlanta, Georgia; one daughter, Wynema L. Parker and husband Rudy, Eastland, Texas; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents. Vandie was born on March 26, 1909 in Gracement, Okla., to Charles and Mattie Vandeventer. She died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001 at Cole's Rest Haven in Guthrie. She was a member of the West Guthrie United Methodist Church. She graduated from the Methodist Hospital School for Nursing Sept. 19, 1931. Sister Mary Stephen was born Mary Frances Higgins in Nowata, Okla., Sept. 20, 1913, the daughter of Clarence and Anna Elizabeth (Kill) Higgins. She entered the Benedictine community in Guthrie on June 6, 1934 and pronounced her monastic vows on Jan. 6, 1936. Sister Mary Stephen's ministry assignments included teaching at St. Joseph Academy, Guthrie; St. Michael's School, Henryetta, Okla.; Marquette and Monte Cassino and Benedictine Heights College, Tulsa. A devoted daughter, she cared for her mother in Stroud from 1976 until her mother's death in 1988. She joins in eternal life her parents; stepfather, Jay Langley; her brothers Jack and the Rev. Published - Wednesday, February 28, 2001 Max L. Good Max L. Good, 81, of Prescott Valley, Arizona, former Guthrie resident, died Feb. 25, 2001 at Veterans Hospital in Tucson, Arizona. Max was born July 21, 1919 in Augusta, Kan. to Emmett and Blanche (Feger) Good. He worked for the Veterans Administration as a Medical Administrator for 26 years before retiring in 1985 in Muskogee, Okla. He served our country honorably in the U.S. Air Force and was proud to serve his country. His family said Max was an avid golfer and fisherman and loved the outdoors. He loved sports and enjoyed being a referee and coaching city league softball in Tucson. His family said Max was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Phyllis Good of Prescott Valley, Arizona; three daughters, Sharon Good of Prescott Valley and Cindy Good and Judy Lucero, both of Chandler, Arizona, and two grandchildren.
