She was born Sept. 8, 1918 in Mena, Ark., the daughter of Clifton and Anna Lee (Stidham) Sanders. Hazel attended Longfellow Grade School and Central High School in Muskogee. She was employed by the Veterans Administration in Muskogee, Okla., and in Phoenix, Ariz. for several years. Hazel later worked at International Crystal in Oklahoma City. Hazel was married to Harvey Knapp during World War II. He was a Lieutenant in the Air Force and was killed while training. Hazel and Robert Hoffman were married about 25 years when he passed away in July of 1998. Mrs. Hoffman is survived by a sister, Rubye Lievsay; two nephews, Rick and Arlan Lievsay and Thomas Lee Lievsay of San Jose, Calif. Thomas Lee has three sons, Danny of Tracy, Calif., Deric of San Leandrs, Calif., and David Scott Lievsay of Mt. Airy, N.C. and a host of cousins. There will be viewing from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.Tuesday at Abernathy Funeral Home in Crescent. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fort Gibson National Cemetery. Interment will be at Church of the Brethren Cemetery at Cushing, under the direction of Strode Funeral Home in Stillwater, Okla. Mrs. Henderson will lie in state at Strode Funeral Home, 610 S. Duncan St., Stillwater. Those wishing to view Mrs. Henderson can do so until 11 a.m. on Wednesday. There will be no viewing after the funeral service. Lula Mae was born Aug. 26, 1906 in Coyle, Okla., to William Henry and Mary Lind (Falckenstein) Carrier. She died March 4, 2001 at Cushing Hospital. She married Raymond V. Henderson on Oct. 20, 1936 at Guthrie. He preceded her in death on Nov. 22, 1985. Mrs. Henderson was the youngest of 13 children. She attended Vassar Grade Schools and graduated from the 8th grade. After their marriage, the couple lived on Ray's old home place for several years. Mrs. Henderson moved to Edmond in 1958. She didn't have the opportunity to attend high school, but never lost the desire to get a diploma. So, in the late 1960's, she began a correspondence course through American School of Correspondence from Chicago, Ill. Mrs. Henderson chose law and journalism as her selective subjects and received her diploma in 1972. While living in Edmond, Mrs. Henderson helped in a day care center, which later led to caring for some children in her home when the center closed. She also worked for Shedrick's Jewelry and in the household department of Snyder's Hardware. In the fall of 1970, she moved to Perkins, Okla. In 1972, the Hendersons were involved in a very serious car wreck and for some time Mrs. Henderson was unable to attend to her household duties. She was a member of the Big Creek Church of the Brethren where she taught junior and senior high Sunday School and sang in the choir. Mrs. Henderson was chosen as a delegate to the National Convention in Orlando, Fla. She enjoyed traveling, knitting, crocheting, raising houseplants and painting. She was an accomplished seamstress and marvelous cook. She kept scrapbooks of interesting articles, many that were taken from the Perkins Journal. She sang in the family quartet at church and for funerals. She was a member of Big Creek Church of the Brethren and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, eight brothers and four sisters. Survivors include one son, Charles Henderson of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Carol Davis and her husband Marvin of Perkins, and Charlene Stanbrough and her husband Bob of Guthrie; six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Enid Carrier of Fort Worth, Texas. Pall Bearers are Jim Carrier, David Carrier, Nolan Carrier, Lynn Davis, Jay Davis and Matt Davis. Anderson, 83, of Tampa, Fla., formerly of Crescent, Okla., will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 12, 2001 at Summit View Cemetery in Guthrie, Okla. Arrangements are by Abernathy Funeral Home of Crescent. Curtis was born June 12, 1917 at Crescent to Ellis and Mettie Anderson. He died March 4, 2001 in Tampa, Fla. He lived in Crescent until 1958 when he moved to Rockford, Ill. He lived in Rockford 42 years, and in Feb. 2000 he moved to Tampa, Fla. He was employed by Winnebago County School System serving as a math teacher, guidance counselor, assistant principal and retired as principal of Wilson Middle School in 1978. Curtis was the first African-American Middle School Principal in Winnebago County. Curtis married Essie Bufford on June 6, 1942 in Tucson, Arizona. He was a member of Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church in Rockford where he served as a Sundey School teacher, member of the Board of Trustees, Lay organization and Finance Committee. He was also a member of the American Legion, Masons and a Charter Member of the Townsmen Club. She was born April 30, 1911 at Anthony, Kan., the daughter of John C. and Hoath Patterson. She was a longtime Anthony resident and a homemaker. Margurette married George W. Lear on Nov. 9, 1929 at Medicine Lodge, Kan. He died June 13, 1993. Others preceding her in death were her parents and a grandson. She was a member of the Christian Church, Over the Hill Gang, Dorcus Group and Rebekah Lodge. Survivors include two sons, H.D. Lear of Anthony and Stanley Lear of Hutchinson, Kans.; two daughters, Patty Hoehler of Ponca City, Okla. and Aldean Young of Guthrie, Okla.; one step-sister, Juanita Armstrong of Anthony; 14 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. He graduated from Wichita Falls Rider High School, attended Texas State Technical Institute in Waco and worked as an electronic technician for six years. Monte is survived by his mother, Virginia Morris, of Lincoln, Mass.; his father, William A. Morris Sr. and wife, Janie, of Shawnee, Okla; grandmother, Dorothy Bell of Wichita Falls; brother, William A. Ernest went to be with the Lord March 11, 2001. Awaiting his arrival were his mother, father, brother Paul and a legion of family and loyal friends. He is survived by his wife, Cora, sister Esther, brothers Walt and John, one daughter, two sons and two step-sons. During his life he became an all around rodeo champion in the Turtle Association, and an expert horse trainer working with both polo ponies and racing stock. He was one of America's silent and unsung Naval heroes of World War II. He worked as a teamster for almost 50 years in livestock transportation and was an all around hard working American. He leaves his family to live in the glow of his large, generous and loving heart. He will be greatly missed by his family. Mary June was born in Crescent, Okla., raised in Guthrie, and graduated from the University of Oklahoma in Library Science. After World War II, she served as a librarian in the Civilian Army Auxiliary at Camp Robinson, Ark., and in Salzburg, Austria. She has lived in California since 1951 having lived in San Francisco, Tiburon, and Mill Valley. She is survived by a cousin, Patty Logan of Yuba City, Calif.; a nephew, Bob Prince of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and two nieces, Sandy Kubitz of Louisville, Ky. and Lynn LaPlante of Toledo, Ohio. Burial will follow in Cooper Cemetery in Meridian under the direction of Davis Funeral Home. Andrews was born October 30, 1934 in Guthrie and was raised by Bill Wells and Dennis and Evalena Redman. She died Saturday, March 17, 2001 at Midwest City Regional Medical Center in Midwest City. Bonnie had lived in Guthrie all of her life. She served as Logan County Clerk for 21 years and worked at the Oklahoma State Auditors office for two years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Guthrie. She married Jack Andrews on March 7, 1952 in Guthrie. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Jack, of the home in Guthrie; one daughter, Brenda Rueb and husband, Guy W., of Edmond; one brother, Max Redman and wife, Gayle, of Guthrie; two grandsons, Mason Andrews of Edmond and Chris Thompson and wife, Melanie, of Guthrie; and one great-granddaughter, Hailey Thompson of Guthrie. Elder was born January 16, 1924 in Stillwater to Leonard and Mary Sam (Crockett) Andrews. She died March 15, 2001 at her home in Mulvane. She married Paul E. Elder in Stillwater on December 22, 1945. She was a first and second-grade teacher in Guthrie and Lawton before moving to Kansas.
