All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Obit for Robert Lee "Bob" Hammond Funeral Services for Robert Lee "Bob" Hammond, 94, of Cashion, were held at 10:30 Monday at the First Christian Church of Cashion with Rev. Roger Stearns officiating. Burial will be in the Cashion Cemetery, directed by Smith Funeral Home. Mr. Hammond was born January 10, 1895 to George and Sarah Hammond, on the family homestead near Downs, Oklahoma. He attended Labelle grade school and Cashion High School. He married Verna Bridal in 1916 and moved to the Belveal homestead where he resided until his death on June 1st, 1989 in Oklahoma City. He was a member of the Cashion Christian Church and served on the church board for more than 40 years; he also served as deacon and elder. He was a member of the Cashion Masonic Lodge for 69 years. He was engaged in farming and ranching and continued to oversee this operation until his death. He is survived by three daughters; Rosalie Burgess of the home; Roberta Brown of Hastings, OK; and Lena Short of Cashion; two sons-in-law; Tom Brown and Raymond Short; two sisters; Bessie Cornwell of Oklahoma City and Mary Montgomery of Guthrie; 8 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Verna, two brothers, Frank and Bill Hammond, one sister, Jessie Sowards, one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.
