He was born in Mission, TX on February 2nd, 1949. He met his soul mate at the age of 15, Charlcie Annette and was married on June 12th, 1969. Their life was and is a love story that much can be learned from. They successfully lived and worked together for 33 years. David worked much of his life as a mechanic in the oil/gas industry, eventually owning his own business in Guthrie, OK named Groundhog Services. His wife Charlcie Annette of Guthrie, OK, sons Scott and Emily Jones of Oklahoma City, OK, Chris and Shanna Jones of Edmond, OK, and daughter Melisa and Gary Tidball of Guthrie, OK, survive him. He was blessed with one granddaughter Brittney, and three grandsons, Connor, Brycen, and Trevor. He is also survived by his mother Anne Jones of Kilgore, TX, brothers, Pete and Y'Vonne Jones of Kilgore, TX, Tom and Nell of Midland, TX, sisters Nancy Howell of Kilgore, TX, Charlotte and Larry Robbins of Liberty City, TX, and Shirley and Norton Seever of Austin, TX, and many nieces and nephews, as well as mother-in-law Juanita Taliaferro of Guthrie, OK. He also leaves three dearly affectionate dogs, Bo, Boomer, and Rascals. A private family viewing took place Friday afternoon, and a public memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, September 15th at 2 pm at the Matthews Funeral home in Edmond, OK. A tribute fund has been established in David's honor. Everyone that knew David loved him and has been touched in some way by his kindness, loyalty, dedication, and/or love. He was continually happy carried a smile, even through his sickness. David has touched so many lives as a animal activist, friend, family man, brother, son, father, and confidant. He was the greatest example of what we should strive to be; he was the best of us. His family will attempt to carry on the great legacy he has left behind. He will be greatly missed, but in our faith we know he is serving our LORD in a higher purpose. This is not goodbye, but until we meet again. It has been said, 'God must had needed a mechanic or someone to care for the stray animals of heaven' God, you couldn't have chosen a better man for the job, he was the best of the best.
