Mr. Jencks filed on a farm five miles south and onee-half west of Cheyenne in 1900, and resided there until 1946 when he came to Elk City. The Jencks residence is at 81 East Avenue A here. A native of Red Cloud, Neb., Mr. Jencks was born Nov. 27, 1877. On Dec. 4, 1900 he was married at Guthrie to Miss Hula Helberg, who survives him. He also leaves the following children: Mrs. Esther Bowers of Cheyenne, Mrs. Hazel Cordle of Campbell, Calif. A daughter, Mrs. Mildred Green preceded him in death in 1940, as did a son Henry Monroe Jencks, who died in infancy. He also leaves one brother ___Jencks of Sandy, Oregon as well as 25 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Mr. Jencks was a member of the Church of Christ. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the Church of Christ Rev. Chuck White officiating. Burial was in the Cheyenne Cemetery.
