Hider Kennedy Charmetrea L. Hider Kennedy, a resident of Hanford for 34 years, passed away in a Fresno hospital on Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at the age of 61 years. Mrs. Kennedy was born Dec. 22, 1944 in Guthrie, Okla. She relocated with her family to Hanford in 1972. She was a retired educator, retiring in 2003 after 31 years with the Hanford Public School system. During her tenure as an educator in the Hanford school system, she represented classroom teachers at special seminars from Southern California to the Bay Area. She held membership in the Hanford Elementary Teachers Association (HETA), California Teachers Association (CTA), and National Educators Association (NEA). She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Joseph Willie Kennedy II, Kimberley Ann Kennedy and Brett Lael Kennedy; her dear friend, Alvin Berry of Los Angeles; five grandchildren, Brett Lael Kennedy Jr. of Tulsa, Okla., Bria Nycole Kennedy, Joseph Willie Kennedy III, Charmetrea LaFaye Wilson and Korryn Gabrielle Kennedy of Hanford; eight siblings, Verna Hider Mack (Richard) of Los Angeles, Julia Hider Harding, Margaret Hider Hunter of Oklahoma City, Okla., Gabe Hider III (Ellen) of Oakland, Reuben Hider Sr. (Gloria) of Houston, Texas, Frank C. Hider, Juanita Hider Roper, and Quincy L. Hider of Denver, Colo.; 16 nephews, 17 nieces and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at People's Funeral Chapel in Hanford. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Glad Tidings Church, 750 E. Grangeville Blvd., in Hanford, with the Rev. Reginald Tuggle of Memorial Presbyterian Tidings Church in Glen Cove, N.Y., officiating. Burial will be in Hanford Cemetery.
