All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Memorial Park Cemetery--OKC OK Neal, Marion Pearson Marion Pearson Neal, 100, homemaker, died February 28, 2003, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2003, at Smith & Kernke, 14624 N. May Ave., Oklahoma City with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Neal was born December 18, 1902, in Pierson, Iowa, to John C. and Lola (Clark) Pearson. In 1905, her family moved to Marshall, Oklahoma Territory. She attended Oklahoma College for Women, Chickasha, and the University of Oklahoma. In 1923, she became the art teacher at the Oklahoma School for the Deaf, Sulphur, Okla. In 1926, she married Dewey H. Neal and they moved to Oklahoma City in 1930. She performed volunteer work for numerous civic organizations, was a member of YWCA and in 1966 was president of the Downtown Rotary Ann Club. She was an 'Original Pioneer' in First Families of the Twin Territories, and member of the McDowell Club of Allied Arts, Oklahoma Art League, Oklahoma Art Center, DAR, PEO, and Centenarian Club of Oklahoma. She served her college sorority, Alpha Gamma Delta, as President of the Oklahoma City Alumnae Club, Panhellenic Delegate, Executive Council and the House Association Board of Directors. On a national level, she was a Vice President of Epsilon Province in 1952-57. She belonged to Wesley United Methodist Church. In 1952, she was District Treasurer of the Women's Society of Christian Service and in 1954 was President. She served on numerous committees and commissions of the Board of Stewards. Marion was preceded in death in 1973 by her husband, Dewey H. Neal, a longtime employee of the Oklahoma Publishing Company. Survivors include daughter, Betty Sue McNabb, Tulsa, Okla., and son, Dewey William Neal, Wichita, Kansas; six grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Memorial established with Wesley United Methodist Church, 1401 NW 25th Street, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73106.
