Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church of Arlington, with Father Steve Austin officiating. Burial: Emerald Hills Memorial Park of Kennedale. Memorials: St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 5819 W. Pleasant Ridge Road, Arlington, Texas 76016. Bill was born July 30, 1942, in Guthrie, Okla. He graduated from Benedictine Heights in 1960 and Southeastern Oklahoma State in 1964. He married Elizabeth Montague on July 18, 1965, in Guthrie, Okla. Bill grew up working in the family business, Nelson Sporting Goods, in Guthrie, Okla., and moved to Arlington with his family in 1972. In 1980, Bill started his own business, Bill Nelson & Co. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church for over 10 years. Bill was preceded in death by his father, William Nelson; brother, John Nelson; and sister, Ginger Scheihing. Survivors: Wife of 40 years, Liz Nelson; son, Kenton Nelson and wife, Monica; daughter, Teri Nelson; mother, Zelma Nelson; sisters, Nancy Parker and husband, Norman, and Sandra Burtcher and husband, Chuck; mother-in-law, Virgie Montague; brothers-in-law, Robert Montague and wife, Suzanne, and Neil Scheihing; grandchildren, Kyle and Cody Nelson and Collin and Courtney Garcia; nephews, Mark Montague, Brian Evans and wife, Amanda, Travis Hopfer and wife, Deborah, Kenneth Parker and wife, Brigitte, Christopher Nelson, Bradley Burtcher, Scott Burtcher, Joe Neil Scheihing and wife, Karen, and Derek Scheihing and wife, Heather; nieces, Julie Evans, Amy Bryant and husband, Jeff, Julie Wilson and husband, Greg, Cydnee Black and husband, Randy, Andrea Mays and husband, Todd, and Karen Metcalf; grandnephews, Austin Hopfer, Zachary Bryant, Nathaniel Wilson, Kevin Parker, Craig Newman, Jonathan Metcalf, and Tucker Scheihing; grandnieces, Allison Hopfer, Kayla and Brooke Black, Magie Bryant, Sandra Cole and husband, Zachary, Jennifer Parker and Timber Scheihing; and many friends and loyal customers whom Bill treasured.
