She impressed me a lot. Her pretty gray hair was combed back with a coil about 3 inches back from her forehead. Her White apron was starched and she went about in a run. Then she told about Sam's children. She and Uncle Sam were married and she had many underskirt with an embroidered flounce, so she started ripping them up. She told the girls to do the work as she had sewing to do. She made each of them a white embroider dress, washed their hair and did the hair in rags. The next morning (Sunday), Aunt Mary Emaline, lined the girls up outside with their curls, white embroider dresses and marched them down to the church and inside, down to the front and looked at the audience to show them WHY she married that "old man" with a house full of kids. The children went barefoot until they got a short distance from the church and then had their shoes on when they made "their entrance" with their shoes on for show. There are Redman descendants in Logan County, Oklahoma today. --------------------------------------------------------- This was submitted by Loretta Mackey.
