All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Bakersfield Californian Jack C White April 20, 1924 February 22, 2003 Born April 20, 1924 in Guthrie, OK. Died February 22, 2003 at home after a seven month battle with cancer, with his son Jack White Jr. and Virginia Humphrey (his ex-wife) at his bedside. He was predeceased by a daughter Linda White and a son Richard White of Oildale. Also a brother David White of Coleville, California. He grew up and attended schools in Coalinga until joining the Navy in May 1942. He was in the service until 1946 at which time he was discharged in Norfold, Virginia. While being in the U.S. Navy, he received medals for Asia Pacific, European African Area American Area Victory, World War II. He was at Normandy on D-Day. His name is also inscribed on the Honor Roll of Veterans at the D-Day Museum in New Orleans, LA. He came to Bakersfield in 1952 and worked in the oilfields as a driller until he retired in 1986. He is survived by another son James White of Oildale. Two sisters, Ruby Clark of Browns Valley, CA and Barbara Asbury of Greenforrest, AK. One brother Bobby White of Oklahoma City, OK. Also nine grandchildren, two of which lived with him and helped with his care, Justin and Jessica White. He also had several great grandchildren. He was also a benefactor of St. Judes Children Hospital. A special thanks to Dr. Abhay Risbud, Dr. Dorene Schinder and their staff of Kaiser Permanente. Of the Veterans Clinic also thanks to Dr. Margoroie Tavoularis and to Marcie Smith.
