The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ *********************************************************************** Obit for Agnes Laura Fricke Vanderveer Graveside services for Agnes Laura Fricke Vanderveer, 78, of Sherman, Texas, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 22, in the Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta. Mrs. Vanderveer was born August 25, 1921, at Marietta, the daughter of Oswald and Louise Fricke. She died Thursday, July 20, 2000, at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas. She and Ernest Vanderveer were married May 8, 1941, in Marietta. Mrs. Vanderveer started her married life as a farm wife, then later helped her husband run a dairy farm southeast of Marietta. In 1962 they moved to Lubbock, Texas, where they were houseparents at the Children's Home of Lubbock. In 1994 they moved to Sherman to be close to their son and family. Due to failing health she lived at the Integrated Health Center of Sherman for the last two and a half years with her husband. He preceded her in death February 16, 2000. Mrs. Vanderveer was a member of the Broadway Church of Christ of Lubbock for years and after moving to Sherman she was a member of Wood Street Church of Christ. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Peggy Vanderveer of Sherman; one daughter and son-in-law, Sheri and Victor Elliston of Spring, Texas; one grandson, Sean Vanderveer of Lubbock; three granddaughters, Mykanna Elliston of Dallas, Lacey Elliston of Abilene, Texas, and Cyndie Elliston of Spring; one brother, James Fricke of Madill; four brothers-in-law and sisters- in-law, Audrey and Janie Vanderveer of Lubbock, Gaither and Verna Vanderveer of Idalou, Texas, and Lyndell and Dorothy Vanderveer of Fort Worth, and Thelma and Joe Dixon of Cordell. Services were under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home Inc., Sherman. Memorials may be sent to the Children's Home of Lubbock, P.O. Box 2824, Lubbock, Texas 79408-2824.
