The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ *********************************************************************** Obit for Alpha Mae McAnally Services for Alpha Mae McAnally, 103, of Marietta, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, in the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tony Caro officiating. Mrs. McAnally was born May 23, 1898, in Huntersville, Kentucky, the daughter of Elvin Lewis and Clarcy Jane Bird Stailey. She died Friday, January 18, 2002, in Heartland Plaza, Ardmore. In 1902, the family, which included eight children, three sons and five daughters, moved from Huntersville to Whitewright, Texas. When she was 18, the Stailey family moved to Loves Valley, to farm. She and Charles McAnally were married in 1922 and lived on a farm in Loves Valley until the early 1950s. Also having lived on a farm at Springer, the couple moved to Ardmore in 1961. Charles preceded her in death on July 14, 1980. Mrs. McAnally lived independently in her home until she moved to Heartland Plaza in March 1999. Of the Methodist faith, she attended many churches in the area over the years. Survivors include a niece whom she raised from childhood, Corine Ellis Thompson of Carrollton, Texas; two children, Charles Thompson and Tim Stewart of Aubrey, Texas; a special niece, Velma Stovall Killion of Paradise Valley, Arizona; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great- nieces and great-nephews. Mrs. McAnally was also preceded in death by her parents; and a granddaughter, Venida Lynn Carter. Pallbearers were nephews, Lawrence Killion, Dale McMillin, Tim Stewart, Jerry Mack Stailey, Harold Birdsall and Charles Thompson. Honorary pallbearers were Herbert Hayes, Alvin Hilton, Ray Hilton, Beverly Ellyson and Sonny Thompson. Interment was in the Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta. Source: Marietta Monitor, Love County, January 25, 2002.
