Taliaferro Services for B.E. Taliaferro, 94, of Leon were Sunday, October 31, at 2:30 p.m. in the Leon Baptist Church with Rev. Dwight Hawkins officiating. Mr. Taliaferro was born November 21, 1904, at Leon, Indian Territory, and died October 29, 1999, in a nursing center in Archer City, Texas. Mr. Taliaferro was a veteran of the U.S. Marines Corps and had owned and operated Taliaferro Grocery Store in Leon from 1948 to 1967. He was also a farmer throughout most of the life. Mr. Taliaferro was a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows in the Leon and Marietta Chapters, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Leon Independent School District and was instrumental in starting the Leon Water District where he had served on the Board of Directors for many years. He had also served as Justice of the Peace for Love County. Mr. Taliaferro was a Methodist and had been a resident of Archer City since November 1996. He and the former Haughty Davis were married June 4, 1929, at Leon. He is survived by two sons, Bill Taliaferro of Archer City and Charles Taliaferro of Stillwater; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mr. Taliaferro was preceded in death by his wife on November 24, 1983; and a daughter, Alma Faye Taliaferro on December 16, 1934. Interment was in the Leon Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home in Archer City. The family suggests memorials to the Leon Baptist Church, P.O.
