David Colaw officiating. Mr. Stinson was born May 11, 1912, at Marietta, the son of James and Nancy Hart Stinson, and died July 15, 1999, at Lake Country Manor Nursing Home, Marietta. A resident of Love County all of his life, Mr. Stinson married Viola Mae Riley on April 17, 1931, in Marietta. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Eastside Baptist Church. Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Debbie Stinson and Kenneth and Pam Stinson of Marietta, James and Kaye Stinson of Beeville, Texas, Benny and Barbara Stinson of Round Rock, Texas, and Bill and Elsie Stinson of Copperas Cove, Texas; two daughters, Dorothy Stinson of Marietta and Betty Smith of Crosby, Texas; 27 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Stinson was preceded in death by his wife on January 9, 1980; two daughters, Nancy Stinson in 1964 and Verna Stinson in 1977; five brothers and four sisters. Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home. Grandsons served as casket bearers. Source: Marietta Monitor, Love County, July 23, 1999.
