Zion Cemetery in Thackerville, with Bro. David Whittington and Bro. Oran Cobb officiating. Mrs. Cobb was born December 16, 1918, at Thackerville, the daughter of Fred and Ottie Effie Bartley Morgan. She died Saturday, December 1, 2001, at the Gainesville Memorial Hospital in Gainesville, Texas. A homemaker, Mrs. Cobb had made her home in Thackerville until 1993 when she moved to Marietta. She and Saint Elmo "Scooter" Cobb were married December 8, 1935, in Marietta, and he preceded her in death April 24, 1993. Mrs. Cobb attended school at Thackerville and also the Thackerville Church of Christ. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Baker, Eva Marie and Nelson "Dude" Powell and Margaret and Eddie Sampson of Marietta; a sister, Ruby Mauldin of Gainesville; nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Mrs. Cobb was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Agnes Climer and Frankie Bruce; and five brothers, Melvin Morgan, Rip Morgan, Fred Morgan, Ralph Morgan and Jimmy Morgan. Pallbearers were grandsons and grandsons-in-law, Ernie Baker, Jacky Baker, Tim Powell, Michael Sampson, Alan Clement, Tim Stokes, Gary Morgan and Eugene Price. Honorary pallbearers were her great-grandchildren. Services were under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta. Source: Marietta Monitor, Love County, December 7, 2001.
