Roy Vinson officiating. Born March 6, 1909, at Leon, Mrs. Hicks died June 26, 1999, in Marietta. She was the daughter of Earl and Julia T. Wooldridge Harris. Mrs. Hicks grew up in the Leon and Jimtown communities and married George M. Hicks, Sr. on September 15, 1928, at Jimtown. They made their home at Jimtown and raised their family there. She was a longtime member of the Jimtown Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Daroleen Bucher of Marietta; three sons, George M. "Bugs" Hicks, Jr. of Marietta, Roscoe A. Hicks of Jimtown and Billy Royce Hicks of Knoxville, Tennessee; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hicks was preceded in death by her husband on April 14, 1977; a daughter, Ozella Marie Hicks; a son, James D. Hicks in 1982; a grandson, Donald Iran Bucher in 1986; two sisters, Flossie "Sis" Blakley and Maxine Harris; and four brothers, Sam Harris, Howard Harris, Earl Harris, Jr. and John Hoyt Harris. Interment was in the Leon Cemetery under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home, Wilson. Pallbearers were grandsons, Steve Bell, Bryce Bell, Dillon Bell, Steve Calhoun, Devon Hicks, Lucian Raymond, Bob Shears, Wayland Webb, Billy Gene Hicks, Ricky Lynn Hicks, Aron Hicks, Brent Lemons, Quentin Bucher and Dewayne Riley.
