Sam Porter and the Rev. Tommy Higle officiating. Mr. Moore was born November 21, 1916, at Woodbine, Texas, the son of David Raymond and Josephine England Moore. He died Monday, December 31, 2001, at Wilson N. Jones Hospital in Sherman, Texas. Mr. Moore had made his home in Love County since 1946. He and Kathryn J. Porter were married in Gainesville, Texas, on September 13, 1943. He graduated from high school in Whitesboro, Texas, and attended Business School in Gainesville. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Moore served in both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force and was awarded the American Defense Service Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal. He worked at Franklin Refinery in Ardmore and was appointed as a rural mail carrier, a position he held for 31years. Mr. Moore was also a part- time carpenter and farmed and ranched. He served as a deacon in Marietta's First Baptist Church and taught Sunday School classes for over 30 years, as well as Training Union classes. Mr. Moore was also a member of the American Legion Burch Bros. Post 136. Survivors include his wife, Kathryn J. Moore of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Carl J. and Laura Moore of Lebanon and Sam R. and Valerie Moore of Sanger, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, K. Marlene and Jim Ward of Bay City, Texas, and Helen J. and Bert Tickel of Oakland; two brothers, Joe M. Moore of Pensacola, Florida, and John R. Moore of Whitesboro, Texas; nine grandchildren, David Moore, Michelle Serrano, Cheyanne Gonzales, Chelsea Savage, Sarah Garza, Charles Tickel, Brent Tickel, Jonathon Garza and Carly Moore; and two great-grandchildren, Dante' Gonzales and Donovan Gonzales. Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his parents; and two infant sons. Pallbearers were Daniel Moore, Danny Atterberry, Mike Plunkett, Terry Morgan, Richard Dugger and Todd Rickey. Honorary pallbearers were the members of the First Baptist Church Men's Sunday School Class and the First Baptist Church deacons. Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, with military honors, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
