The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ *********************************************************************** Obit for Eva Irene Holloway Services for Eva Irene Holloway, 100, of Plainview, Texas, will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, December 14, at the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel in Marietta, with the Rev. Tommy Higle officiating. Mrs. Holloway was born January 11, 1901, in Loves Valley, the daughter of James Thomas and Annie Splawn Cobb. She died Tuesday, December 11, 2001, in Westridge Manor in Plainview. Mrs. Holloway had previously been a longtime resident of Marietta. She and Charles Leslie Bassett were married February 7, 1926, and he preceded her in death on February 13, 1934. On January 12, 1941, she and Robert C. Holloway were married in Marietta, and he preceded her in death August 17, 1972. Mrs. Holloway worked as a sales clerk in several dry goods stores, the last being Hicks Department Store. She was also employed as a secretary at the Marietta Water Office at the time of her retirement. A lifetime member of Marietta's First Baptist Church, Mrs. Holloway was active in Sunday School and WMU. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Plainview at the time of her death. Mrs. Holloway was also a member of the Oklahoma American Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star and the Garden Club in Marietta. In 1982 Mrs. Holloway moved to Plainview to be near her son. She lived in her own apartment for five years before moving to Westridge Manor. Survivors include a son, Dr. Charles Bassett of Plainview; a daughter, Nadine Bonnell of Norman; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Holloway was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Odis Cobb on June 3, 1957; and a sister, Jewell Graham on April 18, 1995. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, December 13, at Flanagan- Watts Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Charles L. Bassett Jr., Greg Bassett, Dr. Danny Cox, Jimmy Fletcher, Terry Bugher and Brandon Bugher. Honorary pallbearer is V.B. "Tup" Robertson. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Marietta, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dr. Charles and Rosalene Bassett Endowed Scholarship Fund at Wayland Baptist University of Plainview, Texas, c/o Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home.
