The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ *********************************************************************** Obit for Earl Wayne Blankenship Services for Earl Wayne Blankenship, 69, of Rubottom, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, at Rubottom Baptist Church in Rubottom, with the Rev. Jimmy May officiating. Mr. Blankenship was born September 11, 1931, at Zaneis, the son of S.A. "Bill" Blankenship Sr. and Mollie L. Taliaferro Blankenship. He died Sunday, June 24, 2001, in Mercy Health Love County in Marietta. Mr. Blankenship had been a resident of the Rubottom area all of his life. He and Wanda Lee Loving were married in Gainesville, Texas, on November 29, 1952, and she preceded him in death August 1, 1996. Mr. Blankenship attended Keltner School and graduated from Courtney High School in 1950. He was employed with OG&E in the late 1950s, worked for the Cookie Shop in Marietta for 18 years, and then was an oil field roughneck, all the while farming and ranching in the Rubottom area. Mr. Blankenship also served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Rubottom Baptist Church. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Barbara Blankenship of Ardmore; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Randy Keller of Falconhead and Linda Harris and Jack Morgan of the Shady Dale community; two brothers, Billy Ray Blankenship of Rubottom and Sam Blankenship of Ardmore; three sisters, Patsy Thompson and Shirley Hearell of Rubottom and Peggy McConnell of Corinth, Texas; a special brother-in-law, Toney Hearell of Rubottom; five granddaughters, Lisa Ramon, Amy Sampson, Karla Smith, Tammy Davis and Sherry Keller; and seven great-grandchildren, Aaron Ramon, Brayden Ramon, Tyler Smith, Marcus Sampson, Magnum Sampson, Mollie Sampson and Harlee Davis. Mr. Blankenship was also preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Darrell Wayne Blankenship. Pallbearers were Jerry Johnson, Billy Johnson, Terry Hearelll, Waylon Thompson, Alan Blankenship and Tommy Blankenship. Honorary pallbearers were Toney Hearell, Joel Hodges and Richard Pass. Interment was in Rubottom Cemetery under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta. Published in the Marietta Monitor, Love County, Friday, June 29, 2001.
