The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ *********************************************************************** Obit for Faye Hicks Services for Faye Hicks, 71, of Rubottom, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 1, in Turner School's Freeman Auditorium, Burneyville, with the Rev. Mike Williams and the Rev. Jack Pryor officiating. Mrs. Hicks was born November 11, 1930, at Petersburg, the daughter of Judge Clyde and Lillie Mae Norvell Johnson. She died Friday, June 28, 2002, in Mercy Memorial Health Center, Ardmore. A homemaker, Mrs. Hicks had been a resident of the Rubottom/Courtney/Petersburg area all of her life. She and Earl Ray Hicks were married in Wichita Falls, Texas, on August 10, 1947. Mrs. Hicks attended school at Petersburg, Courtney and Leon. She worked at Turner School as a Headstart teacher for 13 years and was also employed at the Information Center at Thackerville for five years. Mrs. Hicks attended the Rubottom Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Earl Ray Hicks of the home; four sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Mary Hicks of Rubottom, Lyndal and Sue Hicks of Bridgeport, Texas, Tony Hicks of Marsden and Robin Hicks of Rubottom; a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Vernie Thompson of Rubottom; a sister, Carolyn Cooper of Jimtown; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Hicks was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert Johnson and Marvin Johnson; two sisters, Magdaline "Salty" Parker and Oleta Gandy; and a grand-daughter, Kacie Rene' Hicks. Serving as pallbearers were her grandsons, Steven Hicks, Brandy Hicks, Alan Thompson, Bryan Thompson, Kyle Thompson, Dustin Hicks, Josh Hicks, Jerry Hicks, Chad Rogers and Heath Hicks. Interment was in the Jimtown Cemetery, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta. I always thought Faye was one of the prettiest and nicest people I have ever known. She was a friend to everyone and a wonderful Mother to her children.
