Gus Culwell, USAF, Retired, 58, of Schertz, Texas, were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, at Chapel #1, Randolph Air Force Base, with the Rev. Lyle Pierce officiating. CMSgt. Culwell died Saturday, April 21, 2001. He served 30 years in the U.S. Air Force, was Past Master and a member of the Randolph Masonic Lodge #1268 A.F. & A.M., a member of the VFW Post #8315 - Schertz, and American Legion Post #0179 - New Braunfels. Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Culwell of the home; a daughter, Christina Culwell of San Antonio, Texas; a son, Gregory Culwell of Cibolo, Texas; a grandson, Garrett Culwell of Cibolo; a sister, Barbara Elliott of Marietta; and two brothers, Don Culwell and Edwin Culwell, of Marietta. Interment was in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with full military honors. Masonic services were under the auspices of the Randolph Masonic Lodge #1268 A.F. and A.M. Arrangements were under the direction of Schertz Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Multiple Sclerosis or to the American Heart Association.
