Mrs. Felton was born July 6, 1945, in Gainesville, Texas, the daughter of George H. and Francis Bennett Porter of Marietta. She died suddenly Friday, March 30, 2001, in Wichita, apparently from an aneurysm. Janece Porter graduated from Marietta High School in 1963 as salutatorian of the class. She entered Oklahoma State University in 1963 and met her husband there. She and Michael L. Felton of Enid were married May 1, 1964, in Marietta. She received her master's degree from OSU and upon receiving their master's degrees, the couple moved to Kansas. Mrs. Felton taught English for many years in a number of colleges and universities, including Wichita State University, Haskell Institute Junior College in Lawrence, Kansas, and California State University in San Bernardino, California. Survivors include her husband, Mike of the home; a son, Sean Felton of Kansas City, Kansas; a daughter, Rebecca Pentecost of Wichita; four grandchildren, Jack Felton of Kansas City, and Damyan, Brenna and Erin Pentecost of Wichita; two sisters, Kathryn Moore and Frankie Hilton of Marietta; two uncles, Roy W. Porter of Marietta and Claud M. Porter of Gainesville; two aunts, Grace Bennett of Fort Worth, Texas, and Minnie Moss of Gainesville; mother-in-law, Dorothy Felton of Enid; sister-in-law, Phyllis Felton Campbell of Missouri; and several nephews, nieces and cousins. Arrangements were under the direction of Baker Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Francis Porter Fund, University of Missouri, 5100 Rock Hill Road, Kansas City, Missouri, 64110.
