Keith A. Ratliff officiating. Mr. Talley was born June 13, 1932, at Marietta, the son of Arthur and Rebecca Worley-Talley. He died Saturday, August 18, 2001, in an Iowa Health Care facility. A former Marietta resident, Mr. Talley lived for 51 years in Des Moines and was employed as a machinist by Robert's Dairy for more than 30 years. He and Dorothy Yvonne Greene were married in Des Moines by the Rev. Seymour Gaines, also a former Marietta resident. After making his home in Iowa, Mr. Talley united with the Union Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. Gaines. At the time of his death he was a member of Maple Street Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of the home; four sons, James Talley Jr. and Timothy Talley Sr. of Des Moines, Kirby Talley Sr. of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Leslie Talley of Alexandria, Virginia; two sisters, Grace Allen of Marietta and Violet Douglas of Markham, Illinois; six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Talley was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Richard; three brothers, Mack-Loney Talley, William Talley and Bob Talley; and five sisters, Emma Talley, Peggy Talley, Shirley Liggins, Loretta McDowell and Juanita Gaines. Pallbearers were nephews Alan Douglas, Keith Douglas, Marc Douglas, Robert Gaines, Eugene White and Kenneth Talley. Interment was in Glendale Cemetery under the direction of Nichols & Sons Funeral Home. Published in the Marietta Monitor, Friday, August 21, 2001.
