Whitley Services for J.M. (Jim) Whitley, 67, of Alvarado, Texas, were conducted September 13 at 10:30 a.m. in the Crosier-Pearson-Mayfield Funeral Home, Cleburne, Texas. Officiating was Weldon Branham, pastor. Mr. Whitley was born November 2, 1931, in Egan, Texas, and died September 11, 1999, at his home in Alvarado. He was a retired automobile mechanic and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Betty Lou Whitley of Alvarado; three daughters, Lynn Brownlee of Arlington, Texas, Sheila Newton of Cleburne and Pat Walker of Fort Smith, Arkansas; two sons, Johnny Davenport of Fort Worth, Texas, and Jesse Whitley of Arlington; five sisters, Jerry Ledbetter of Joshua, Texas, Alice Ratliff of Henderson, Texas, Sophia Reasoner of Gordon, Texas, Genna Vincent of Alvarado and Barbara Wilson of Glen Rose, Texas; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
