Tony Caro officiating. Mr. Edwards was born October 6, 1936, in San Saba, Texas, the son of Joel W. and Pauline Taylor Edwards. He died Wednesday, January 23, 2002, at his residence in Marietta. Mr. Edwards had made his home in Love County since 1995, moving here after retiring from coaching. He and Queta Faulkenberry were married June 30, 1967, in San Marcos, Texas. Mr. Edwards was a coach and athletic director in Texas high schools for 35 years, focusing mainly on football. He was also a member of the Texas Century Club for having won 100 games in basketball. After moving to Marietta, he was in the real estate business, associated with Willis Realty. Mr. Edwards was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife, Queta Edwards of the home; a son, Mark T. Edwards of Johnson City, Texas; three daughters, Joelyn I. Cassidy of Cedar Park, Texas, Brenda Edwards of Liberty Hill, Texas, and Melanie Hardaway of Kerrville, Texas; a brother, Arden Edwards of Kingsbury, Texas; and nine grandchildren. Mr. Edwards was precede in death by his parents. Serving as pallbearers were Dale Faulkenberry, Bobby Faulkenberry, Thomas Faulkenberry, Christopher Faulkenberry, Matt Gerstenberg and Joel W. Edwards. Interment was in the Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta. Source: Marietta Monitor, Love County, February 1, 2002
