Kitchens Services for Rosie J. Kitchens of Marietta were at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating the service was her son-in-law, Rev. Bill Gibson. Mrs. Kitchens was born April 9, 1904, at Forestburg, Texas, the daughter of Andrew and Lou Harris Monroe, and died April 12, 1999, in Mercy Health Love County, Marietta, at the age of 95. A resident of Love County since 1920, she was a homemaker and a member of the Burneyville Baptist Church. She and Luther T. Kitchens were married in 1920. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, L.T. and Cleta Ann Kitchens of Ardmore and Claud and Hallie Kitchens of Los Angeles, California; two daughters and son-in-law, Geneva Shankles of Burneyville and Glade and Bill Gibson of El Paso, Texas; 18 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Kitchens was preceded in death by her husband on September 2, 1974; a son, John A. Kitchens in 1974; four brothers and a sister. Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home. Grandsons served as casket bearers. Source: Marietta Monitor, Love County, April 16, 1999, pg 4
