Robertson HALE CENTER - John C. Robertson, 88, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church with Silas Short, minister of the Church of Christ in O'Donnell, and Scott Jimenez, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Hale Center, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Plainview by Freeman-Abell Funeral Home. Mr. Robertson was born in Gainesville. He graduated from school in Marietta, Okla. He married Venda Young in 1933 at Clovis, N.M. He had lived in Hale Center since 1950, moving from Sudan. He was a retired farmer and rancher. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Woodmen of the World. He also was a Boy Scouts of America Master. Mr. Robertson had been a Mason since 1948. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a past Master of the Lemond Lodge. He served as Deputy Grand Master of Grand Lodge of Texas District No. 96. He was a past Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star and received the Golden Trowel in 1992. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Johnnie Ashley of Dallas, Shirley Anderson of Garland, Jane Drake of Carrollton and Sue Dunn of Falls Church, W.Va.; four brothers, Tup Robertson, Fred Robertson and Gene Robertson, all of Marietta, and Opp Robertson of Washington; two sisters, Mary Beeler of Marietta and Dorothy London of Augusta, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be for the treatment of dyslexic children at the Scottish Rite Learning Center, P.O. Box 10135, Lubbock, Texas 79408.
