All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Tucumcari Memorial Park--Tucumcari NM Amarillo Globe News 6 Oct 1997 Ella Augusta Sewell TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Ella Augusta Sewell, 87, died Friday, Oct. 3, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Dunn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Tucumcari Memorial Park. Mrs. Sewell was born in Snowball, Ark., and she grew up in Love County, Okla. She married Hulen Parks Sewell in 1931 at Ardmore, Okla. They moved in 1932 to Quay County, where her husband was an auto mechanic in San Jon and operated a wrecker service on old Route 66. She was a homemaker and did substitute teaching in the San Jon schools. She previously was an active member of San Jon Baptist Church, and served for a number of years as Sunday school superintendent and training union leader. She also served as a 4-H Club leader and Cub Scout den mother. In 1964, the Sewells built a new business in Tucumcari, the Sewell Machine Shop, which they owned and operated until 1985, when their eldest son took over. Mr. Sewell died in 1993. Survivors include five children, James Sewell of Tucumcari, Gene Sewell of Texhoma, Okla., Patsy Monk of Melrose, Dariel Sewell of Garland, Texas, and Mary Helen Carter of Portales; 17 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Love County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/love/love.htm
